Rochdale Assessment of Mirpuri Phonology (RAMP)
The Rochdale Assessment of Mirpuri Phonology (RAMP) was our first attempt to create a speech sound assessment for the Pakistani heritage languages Mirpuri, Punjabi and Urdu in 1998.
This led to contact with Alison Holm and Prof. Barbara Dodd via the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' Bulletin magazine. At this time, Prof. Dodd and her team were looking for assessments of speech in languages other than English. This informed the team's work on establishing that the Dodd categories of Speech Sound Disorder (Articulation Disorder; Phonological Delay; Consistent Phonological Disorder and Inconsistent Phonological Disorder) were applicable across all human languages.
The work also resulted in Carol and Sean signing up for an MPhil, which then became PhD studies.

Rochdale Assessment of Mirpuri Phonology (RAMP) FORMS
The RAMP was originally created using CorelDraw and Lotus Word Pro word processor. The files are no longer compatible with newer software and computers. Therefore, converted or scanned versions are all that is available at this time. Re-creating the forms would be possible, but extremely time-consuming!
Files are made available here for reference purposes. Speech and Language Therapists should consider that the RAMP was developed more than a quarter of a century ago and that progress has been made with the description of Pakistani heritage languages, phonological theory, and IT!
The BiSSS is available for assessment of Speech Sound Disorder for children who speak Mirpuri, Punjabi and Urdu here.
